CHAT Groups will be 5-12 people who meet informally to get to know one another better, pray, share bible study, plan action based on their study.
Autumn 2006 As usual, there’s a great deal happening in the church in the Autumn Session that needs your support and prayers. The young people in our new Explorers, Adventurers and Discoverers are going to be given a bit more responsibility and will be taking a bigger role in the first part of the service. There will be two Alpha courses, one on an evening and one on a morning. The days haven’t been finalised yet but the morning one will include tea/coffee rather than a meal and the talks will be shorter. We will be repeating some of the spiritual growth conferences and we are developing a third. Look out too for small groups starting up – those who have already signed up and those others who are interested, we’ll be telling you more soon. On Sunday evenings we are looking at “Intelligent Church.” I’m basing the talks fairly loosely on the book with that title by Steve Chalke. It’s good to see families coming along to this service and their young folk taking part. The popular 10.30am service in Solid Rock on Wednesday mornings will continue. Though our Sunday morning numbers are not growing at the moment, when you count in the other 2 services our weekly attendance is considerably up. However, we would love to see more of you joining us for any of the services, and experiencing the presence of God that challenges and changes us.
Sunday Evenings 6.30pm – September and October “Intelligent Church”
Intelligent ChurchWhen we looked at the subject of “inclusion” in the series on intelligent church we looked at how Jesus reached out to all kinds of people sinners, outcasts, lepers God makes no distinction between persons – He gave His Son for the whole world. We were drawn to this definition of what an inclusive church would be: Serving and respecting all people regardless of their gender, marital status, race, ethnic origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or physical and mental capacity. It may be something for our Kirk Session to consider. Hospitals and Sick Visiting. Please let me know when folks are needing a visit – I am in Victoria and Queen Margaret Hospitals every week but usually see less than half the Burntisland folks who are there, because I don’t know about the others. It’s frustrating for me and it’s hurtful for folks who are wondering why the minister hasn’t been in. Please keep reminding me too of folks who are ill long term. In a busy schedule I can sometimes lose track, and a reminder is helpful.
