The CAP office will then make an appointment for you with Pat who will visit you at home. Pat will take your financial details - you can give her ALL your bills. The CAP office will contact your creditors on your behalf and prepare a budget which will enable you to live properly, pay off your debts and even save for things like Christmas. We would hope to have you debt free within 3 or 4 years (obviously a lot depends on your circumstances). There is no charge for this service, no hidden charges, indeed CAP can often negotiate a reduction in interest charges.

Burntisland Parish Church is partnering with Christians Against Poverty and we have opened a cap centre in Burntisland. We are employing Pat Hanson as a CAP worker. Pat is now trained and the service is now available.

Christians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity. CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help. CAP’s unique ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts. We are providing sustainable poverty relief as our service teaches clients vital budgeting skills that will last a lifetime. The charity operates through a growing network ofUK centres, all opened in partnership with a local church.

We would like other churches to partner with us to:

Make this service known to those with serious debt problems.

Encourage volunteer befrienders who will go with theCAP worker and keep a personal contact with the family (if this is wanted) and perhaps help in practical ways.

Support the work financially.
